About the role
Mater at Home is seeking highly motivated and experienced Registered Nurses to join the South Brisbane campus, permanent, fixed term and casual positions are available.

The Hospital in the Home (HITH) Registered Nurse is a dynamic and self-directed role providing broad clinical cares to HITH patients. HITH operates to deliver hospital level care in the safety and comfort of a person’s residence. Using extensive experience, this role is responsible for the delivery of acute and post-acute care in the community.

Mater Nursing and Midwifery Enterprise Agreement 2022 – 2025 Salary range: $39.61 - $53.30 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing
The Registered Nurse is required to liaise with the hospital and community based multidisciplinary care teams to deliver seamless, holistic care. The Registered Nurse will have problem-solving skills to manage patient related issues and escalation. The HITH Registered Nurse has excellent time management skills and provides support for nursing team members. Additionally, the role operates to support the HITH Clinical Nurse, Consultant and line manager in activities designed to aid the sustainability and continual improvement of the HITH service.

Other skills and experience include:

  • Minimum 3 years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse with an acute setting
  • Previous experience in Hospital in the Home Service highly regarded
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill and the ability to liaise with a variety of different stakeholders both internally and externally at various levels
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a team environment and autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning and strong listening, negotiation, and decision-making skills
  • Information management and technology proficiency
  • Commitment to ensuring a responsive and streamline HITH service is always delivered to patients.
  • Cannulation
  • Venepuncture
  • PICC Line management
  • POC Access/De-access.
  • Complex Wound Care
  • Computer/information technology literacy

Desirable Competencies

  • Indwelling Catheter Management (male and female)
  • Subcutaneous Chemotherapy administration
  • Negative Wound Care Therapy
