About the role

The Mater Hospital Mackay currently has an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Midwife to work within our Maternity Unit on a part-time, permanent basis.

The successful applicant will provide clinical midwifery leadership and management on a day-to-day basis and responsible for the delivery of quality women’s centered care, developing standards of practice, implementing changes to clinical practice and initiating research and quality improvement activities.

The Mater is a leader in the provision of high-quality maternity and newborn services for the people of Queensland. Providing exceptional care and support of women and their families.

Salary range: $54.21 - $58.08 (RN2) per hour plus superannuation and access to generous salary packaging up to $15,900

What you'll be doing

As a Clinical Midwife, you will be responsible to manage, coordinate and provide competent, evidence-based midwifery care. This includes providing support and direction to other staff while role modelling and promoting professional standards of practice and conduct.

Whilst displaying the highest level of clinical standards, you will be responsible for:

  • Actively contributing towards the Quality, Safety and Work, Health and Safety processes in the clinical area
  • Supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision
  • Provide clinical guidance, leadership and education to members of the clinical team in order to ensure consistent and collaborative implementation of improvement activities
  • Achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of care
  • Demonstrating advanced clinical expertise and knowledge of procedures and the management of patients seeking outstanding care
  • Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth 

About you

To be successful in your application for this position it is essential that you have: 

  • Current Midwifery registration with AHPRA
  • Significant post-graduate midwifery experience
  • Advanced clinical competency and the ability to maintain the highest standards of nursing/midwifery practice
  • Effective communication and clinical problem-solving skills to maximise patient care within the multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to the continuous improvement of health care and midwifery practice, and to continuing professional development of self and others.
  • Willingness to commit to and role model the Mater values
