About the role
Mater Pharmacy have an exciting opportunity for a professional Pharmacy Technician to join our Springfield Pharmacy team as a Senior / Clinical Support Technician on a permanent basis working full-time (or as part of a part-time job-share arrangement).
Salary range: $36.00 - $39.47 per hour (Operational Officer Level 4) plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
In this position you will work within a team of pharmacists and technicians to deliver safe, effective and high-quality level of pharmacy service to optimise outcomes for all patients and customers of Mater Springfield.
Your role will predominantly be divided between the inpatient wards and support for day oncology in the Mater Cancer Care Centre (MCCC) with a variety of duties including:
- Providing responsive customer-focused service
- Clinical support for ward pharmacists:
- prioritisation of patients and tasks for inpatient wards
- assisting with documentation of medication history and preparing discharge medication lists
- ensuring medications are available in a timely manner in the right location
- liaising with nursing and medical staff regarding medication supply including financial approvals when required
- maintaining records including allergy and adverse drug reactions, concession and safety net details
- Support for cancer services:
- dispensing all required medications for day oncology treatments
- assembling take-home medicines for cancer care including oral chemotherapy
- receiving orders, delivering medication to MCCC and managing any returns
- Prescription management and preparation for PBS claiming
- Assisting to monitor and maintain appropriate stock levels in the pharmacy
- Answering phone calls from both internal and external customers and patients
- Working with other technicians to ensure accurate and timely supply of medications to all patients and clinical areas
This role will be based at our Springfield campus where the stage 2 expansion including an emergency department, paediatric and maternity services, additional inpatient wards, and on-site outpatient (retail) pharmacy will open in 2026. Training will be provided, and ongoing support is available within the on-site team and also Mater Pharmacy South Brisbane teams.

About you
To be considered for this role you must have:
- Commenced or completed a Certificate IV in Community/Hospital Pharmacy (or equivalent) is essential (those who are willing to commence the course will also be considered)
- A professional attitude, effective communication skills and a high level of attention to detail
- Passion for customer service and appreciation of the importance of delivering exceptional service every time
- Professional, hardworking attitude and willing to work cooperatively and effectively with all team members
- Previous relevant work experience is highly desirable
- The flexibility to work additional shifts, including some weekends and public holidays is desirable
