   About the role Join the Multicultural Health Coordination Program under the well-established Mater Refugee and Multicultural Health Service  as a Senior Social Worker on a full-time maximum-term 10-month contract based at Mater South Brisbane.
This exciting opportunity allows you to make a meaningful impact in supporting multicultural communities with complex health and wellbeing needs.
Salary range: $64.64 to $69.55 per hour plus superannuation  and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900   + access to many staff benefits!  
What you’ll be doing 
You will deliver high level social work clinical services in accordance with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Code of Ethics and Professional Practice standards by: 
Identifying and assessing the complex psychosocial needs underpinned by the social determinants of health, of patients, families and carers in close collaboration with multicultural health nurses across a variety of settings including in general practices.    
 
Applying differential assessment methods to identify risks and prioritise needs appropriate to the client group.     
 
Utilising high levels of knowledge and clinical skills in exercising independent professional judgement in problem solving and clinical management, handling an increasingly complex caseload beyond that of routine day to day clinical practice.    
 
Applying high level advocacy skills to address patient needs.    
 
Providing high level advice to the nursing and medical teams to facilitate client outcomes.    
 
Utilising high level knowledge of community development and engagement with culturally diverse communities to address health literacy and health system navigation needs.    
 
Undertaking high level social work practice independently with infrequent direct clinical practice supervision.   
 
Providing mentorship, supervision, and training for other team members, promoting reflective practices and continuous learning within the team.   
 
Champion cultural responsiveness  within the program and maintain active partnerships with support services for multicultural communities to identify and develop culturally appropriate referral pathways.    
 
About you 
Have a degree in social work that provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Tertiary qualifications from overseas institutions will require evidence of assessment from AASW included with the application for consideration. 
Demonstrate a high level of knowledge of contemporary practice, including cross-cultural practice and clinical skills through clinical experience, professional development, or formal qualifications. 
Show strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and across care settings, including General Practice. 
Exhibit evidence of clinical leadership through quality improvement initiatives, service evaluation, development, or research. 
Work independently with strong clinical judgment, delivering high-quality care with minimal supervision. 
Possess a Class C driving licence and be willing to work across multiple work sites.  
 
Desirable Skills:
AASW membership   
AASW Accredited Mental Health Social Worker   
Extensive experience in provision of social work services, ideally across health and community settings to patients from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds, experiencing complex health needs compounded by social and systemic barriers.
